When I’m on adventures, cell phone reception is spotty at best. You never know when/where you will have an emergency, so being able to communicate is critical.
In the last 30 days, I’ve had several friends need medical attention in the wilderness. Ranging from a pickup truck ride to the hospital to a life flight to save his life.
There are a few options outside of cell signals, including a naval beacon or a satellite locator/messenger.
If it was just me, I would purchase the garmin inreach mini because I don’t like garmins as a gps/mapping system and prefer the gaia gps.
There is a huge sale on garmin inreach systems, camelcamelcamel shows the lowest price ever!
I’m getting this version because it is selfcontained and can be time-shared and can be used for many purposes.
If you live near me and would like to “timeshare this” emergency locator, email or text me.
I’m thinking 4-5 people share it, including service fee of $130 a year.
