Shotshow 2023 recap

Though I was not able to attend this year. As I attend every other year. I was able to do a lot of research online/blogs/videos etc.

I built a playlist of shotshow vids that I found helpful:

TODO LIST WHILE AT SHOTSHOW 2023

• Talk to sig and see if they have plans for
  • MCX 308 (yep, they announced the sig mcx in 308, 6.5 CM and sig fury 2.77
  • P320 10mm in about a 4”
• PSA
  • Talk to PSA about an NRA instructor discount – ruger, sig, springfield have great NRA instructor discount programs
  • See all their new systems jakl etc. 
  • What sig optics will fit rock 5.7? w/o adapter plates
  • What sig optics will fit dagger? w/o adapter plates
• Look around for good thermal optics – but with sig instructor discount, Thomas plans to save up for that (holosun has therma now!)
• Find a good source for CNC aluminum – GG3
• Go see Aero Precision and pet their new systems, including suppressors. I LOVE the 1:8 wylde barrels (Ballistic advantage) 
• Get discount codes from vendors

REMINDER, most manf give NRA instructor discounts (ruger, sig etc), if you are in Utah and in the future you intend to help youth/BSA with shooting sports, you can become an NRA instructor for $50 and a couple of saturdays. https://www.utahscouts.org/shootingsports

SUMMARY 2023

• Thomas is most Excited about:
  • I’m super excited the mcx 308 is coming out in Feb, followed by 6.5 CM and then followed by 277 fury. IMO I think the 13” 308 is the way to go, given planning to run suppressor. If/when 277 is common, I could get a barrel for that.
  • STILL crossing my fingers for a 4” p320 10mm 
  • Sig range day, they have their own range day, IMO I would go to this if mutually exclusive (miss all the other ones and go to SIG)
  • AAC ammo – non-gov contractor, producing ammo for americans! PLEASE buy their ammo, they are making it for us and at a good value. Try some SMK 70gr 5.56 or what not, in the future, they’ll do steel cased 7.62×39, 5.45×39, 308r (I believe), practice ammo and defense ammo in major calibers. 9mm, 45, 5.56, 308, 5.7 etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af89sAet05Y
  • PSA
    • New PSA jakl adapter for standard ar15 lowers

    • PSA Dagger switch – like a fire control unit, so can move serial number to other “systems” like the SIG p320 FCU

• PSA dpms gen2 308! Looks to be light weight, like the ruger SFAR 308

  • Not excited about performance glock trigger (see my article about what is wrong with glock)
  • Oracle 2311 p320 mags with 1911 double stack style, maybe it’ll prove to be good?1?
  • Other new fangled pistols like oracle nor alien
