Day1 – range day. I really loved shooting the oracle arms 2311, I was starting to really be interested in the SA prodigy, but after shooting the 2311 and knowing it takes p320 mags, I’m seriously thinking about saving up for a 2311, which a 5” is $2200!

There was a cheapo 2011 about $1000 that seemed ok, but it needed to be cleaned or something as the trigger was gritty going forward into reset.

The new flux raider for p365 is way too short for me and if I put my nose where I normally would on an ar15, the p365 slide would hit my eye or safety glasses, so likely need a longer brace for taller people.

Saw the flux sister company’s scope zoom system. Pretty cool, but doesn’t seem something I need.

I enjoyed shooting the browning auto 5 in 20 ga…an entire box of ammo. Enjoyed a over/under in 28ga too. It was amazing, but my citori is plenty good with 12ga for my purposes.

I hope to be able to get a holosun instructor discount and that thermal optic is really really great.  Day and night!

Learned that press and hold and proper reset does NOT work with many of the binary triggers…at industry day at the range.

NEW PRODUCTS section was kind of lame and not filled out very well.

DAY2:

Stopped by and saw the holosun thermal and night vision. Right now, I think I would like to get the thermal if I can get the instructor discount, otherwise someday I’ll get the sig thermal.

I talked to PSA and they hired a staccato engineer recently so they maybe coming out with a 2011! Likely not 2024, but hopefully 2025/2026!!!

Ruger does NOT have plans to do a 2011 🙁 🙁 but they get that request a lot.

Sig was not at the show, but I had these sig TODOs

  • Instructor discount on mags?
  • SCS adjust brightness manually?
  • Look over all sig optics and rifles
  • Will sig have a 2011 in the future?

CMMG wasn’t at SHOT ether 🙁 , but I wanted to look over their products as I can get 40% off now.

PSA survey on what to build next. I voted for the somewhat disposable 10mm dagger, thumper and jakl 308.
But after seeing the 570 shotgun, I would make that number 1 as its awesome. The slide release is great! And urgos of the magpul like stock is great too. I love the tang safety.  Looks like a solid system that would compete with a tactical 590 or 870. Having a OEM spot of a red dot on a shotgun would be cool!

PSA has an FCU for daggers already, but will likely be bring that to many others, but I can’t find it on their website.

Magpul has a new steel mag for p320s!!!  They don’t think they will be doing a mpx mag 🙁

DAY3

A few more cleanups like visiting with Eric https://www.youtube.com/c/iraqveteran8888 at 50 bmg drum for m107. $1600 for a 20rd drum! Just buy 10rd mags and swap. This was a fostech and the prototype wouldn’t snap into the mag well very well.

Saw the aero precision lever action 45-70. Its crazy heavy like 9.5 lbs, which at the range is great for recoil mgmt, but not for hiking and hunting with the 45-70.

Went back and saw the IWI ts12 shotgun. Had 3 tubes of 5 rds and bullpup 12ga for 1300. I don’t even really like shotguns, but if you need a drone destroyer it’d be great!

I got a shload of blackhills stickers (let me know if I can give you some)

Midway USA was not at shotshow.

There is an ar15 lower that can change mag wells, from 556 to 9mm or 7.62×39.

375 $ for stripped lower is pretty high, but if it saves you a bunch of NFA tax stamps.

I was on the fence about getting a new E.A.R.S. hearing protection for the helmet to protect highway hearing from windnoise etc.  I got one built custom for riding the bike, now I have one for shooting and one for riding.

No chance of converting hybrid to a flow through 🙁 🙁

https://www.extrememist.com/ hydration bag mist system, downside the battery pack is kind of bulky/heavy IMO for dirt biking and it would use your drinking water. Retro kit is $160 and you could install it into your hydration kit. There is one for a tent or shade too, an expansion kit.

SUMMARY:

For me, Shotshow 2024 was mostly focused on 2011s (double stack 1911s in 9mm).

I’m really excited about the huxwrx and aero precision innovations and upcoming products.

I think I’m most excited about the instructor discount extensions (holosun, Oracle Arms, and hopefully PSA) and talking with huxwrx, IMO they are the only suppressor to get. Its too bad I have so many old technology suppressors.

Aero says they are working on a flow through like suppressor and their harduse/pro lowers and handguards look great.

I think my fav of the whole show was going to rangeday. Partly because its the first time doing range day and 2nd its nice to really try out a new system with 10 ish shots per. I think I shot about $300 worth of ammo and really enjoyed the happy switch systems.
I was mostly focused on shooting and comparing 2011s and I got to say, my fav was the Oracle Arms 2311, but super pricy and kind of full “race gun” which is not my style/niche/pou.

The kimber kds 2011 was super high class double stack 9mm that was 2011ISH. Seemed only 4″ and maybe a 5″ would be nice, but too pricy for this niche for me. No MIM’d part though.
