I love prepping, especially with multi-use items like a motorhome.

It is stocked and ready to go for an adventure, family trip or emergency evacuation. No endless shuffling of gear and bins, everything has its place and the motorhome has its duplicate (no moving stuff from the house to the motorhome except fresh food and clothing). So, the motorhome has dedicated kitchen gear, jackets, tools etc.

With a two-way fridge, I can keep our food safe and cool. Grid or generator will run the fridge, but also propane! If this fridge ever goes out, I’ll get a 3-way fridge that will include 12v!

To me, I much prefer a motorhome over an RV trailer. The motorhome allows you to travel spread out, so the kids fight less.  You can sleep, or use the kitchen/bathroom in route (Best to stop of course for your safety). Pulling a trailer is nice in a motorhome, you don’t have to worry about pulling two trailers (RV & a toy). No toys inside your living space smelling bad and getting it dirty. Once you get onsite, you just hook up the grid and you are done, no leveling or messing around with jacks. An enclosed prepper trailer that acts like a shed for your toys is the way I roll.

Motorhome Mods:

Mod-ONE: Motion lights

Motion Lights, I have these in cupboards, walk ways, bathroom etc.  They take AAA batteries (rechargeable ones) and can be placed just about anywhere.

These are awesome with double sided tape or 3m dual lock, just outside the door, so when you are using your keys at night or lighting your path, or alerting you if someone is outside your door at night.

Mod-TWO: secure storage

I’ve got a secureit fastbox, that I store protection and valuables while I’m away.

Mod-Three: hidden personal protection.

I’m going to be a bit discrete on this one, but I have spares accessible throughout the motorhome. I feel they are secure, even if there was a car accident.

Mod-Four: Motorcycle carrier

https://amzn.to/31x7kra (is the one I bought and several of my buddies have these and they work pretty good for our dual-sports. I LOVE having a deployable piggy-back vehicle! Think about it, the motorhome is HUGE and hard to get into tight spots (Motorcycles ideal niche!) and if you have motorhome issues and the cell phone doesn’t work, you can jump on the bike and get to cell service and call road side assistance or grab groceries/snacks etc.

Mod-Five: mountain bike carrier & front hitch mount.

So I could bring my motorcycle and mountain bikes, I recently installed a front hitch on the motorhome along with a 4 bike carrier.

The install of the front hitch was pretty easy. Quick TIPS: 1. remove the front bumper on e450, it is time savings well spent! 2. Once hitch is in place, use a multimax to cut the plastic fairing and the splash guard. I could not use the OE bolts on the splash guard, so I used re-usable zip ties and its solid!

This shows the cut-out with the multi-max.

Mod-Six: USB fan and 120v fans.

OMG, the fans are so nice!  I can hook up the USB fan to a battery pack and move it just about anywhere including pulling/pushing air into/out of the motorhome.

The 120v fan is much much more powerful if you have the grid.

Mod-seven: max fan

These are awesome for pulling the hot air out of the motorhome, its like a whole-house fan! crack a window on the otherside of the motorhome and set the fan to pull the hot air out. They also can have the vent open in a rain/snow storm w/o endangering a leak.

I suggest installing them in the spring/fall before it gets hot, being on the roof w/o shade sucks!

Mod-Eight – Propane fire ring.

I got a fire ring from costco and a grate for hotdogs/hamburgers at walmart.
